Sociological Film Review on China Blue: In series of my analysis of the Communist Manifesto.

China Blue is a documentary released in 2005 directed and produced by Micha X. Peled . The title says ‘blue’ since the movie revolves around one Lifeng factory which makes jeans for Europe and South America. The purpose of the documentary was to reflect on the largest human migration that is happening in China which leaves those looking for work with little choices and thus gives owners the perfect opportunity to exploit them. The film gave insights into a workers’ lives in China in the form of narration by one Jasmine who joins the factory after leaving her village in order to earn for her sister’s graduation by working in the city. Jasmine, a 17-year old, arrives at the factory and stays in a dormitory with twelve other girls, some of whom are younger than her but they knew the place fairly well than she. Jasmine’s first experiences come as shock to both her and the viewers, for example the time when she realises that fines are imposed every minute a worker is late for work, w...

Self diagnosing when to see a therapist without over diagnosing.

What makes me the authority? Just a psychology enthusiast who has been a psychology student, read  some papers on the subject and has experienced distress very recently (and am not embarrassed about it anymore) The most common mental health issue is depression. A major mood disorder characterised by loss of interest, repetitive thoughts, feeling of guilt and embarrassment, excessive crying, crying without reason  and undermining one’s self worth. It is worth mentioning that if you feel you’re depressed due to an external circumstance it is just situational depression. But if you feel that you’ve been in a state of permanent melancholy for a long period and find it difficult  to open up to even your near and dear ones, you probably might want to see a therapist. Now it is not easy to be decisive since you’re apprehensive of opening up because you feel that these thoughts are stupid and embarrassing. There’s also a lack of resolve to get out of the stage, b...

Are these nursery rhymes safe to teach and learn?-- I mean, yeah, such petty things do pester me!

I’m a Punjabi and naturally, I loved listening to Honey Singh’s songs. Gradually the songs went from ‘dirty’ to ‘very dirty’ and I started becoming uncomfortable listening to them in social situations, leave alone dancing on them. But what is it that makes these songs dirty? It is the sexism and the objectification of women in these songs. But where did Honey Singh, Badshah, etc. and others learn that women are objects which appeal to men and that they are subservient to men? And where did they learn from that it is normal to objectify women and that they can get away with the evil act. Well, one may be shocked to know that we have been learning that sexism is normal from the time we were NURSERY KIDS! But what did we learn in nursery? A bunch of rhymes only. But these not-so-cute rhymes are inherently sexist and racist. Take for example, Peter, Peter pumpkin eater, Had a wife but couldn't keep her;(1) He put her in a pumpkin shell (2) And there he kept her very well. P...

If this body is what you covet...

If this body is what you covet, then I want to shed my flesh. If this body is what you covet, then you're defiling my sagacity. If this body is what you covet, then you don't seek my true company. If this body is what you covet, then you don't value intellect. If this body is all you covet, then your vision is finite. बालिका अहं बालिका नव युग जनिता अहं बालिका । नाहमबला दुर्बला आदिशक्ति अहमम्बिका ।। -- -- I am a girl, a girl of modern times. I am not feeble or powerless. I am Aadishakti, I am Ambika.

Women will triumph only when they confide in each other rather than fight with each other.

There should be no period in any man's life when he is devoid of books.

Why arent books stolen more often when their investment gains are larger.
